A very pleasing start to the week in Gaborone as turnover amounted to $3.89m thanks to some action in Choppies with 6.62m shares changing hands on the day while there was also some activity in FNBB (868k shares).
Not much on the go in Nairobi today as turnover amounted to $4.9m with foreigners dominating both sales and purchases. Foreign demand drove Safcom higher today as the telco gained +5.5% on 10.1m shares. The two major banking stocks ended mixed with KNCB gaining +0.5% while EQBNK fell -1.2%. EABL had a strong day as the brewer gained +2.0% thanks to foreign purchases.
A sluggish start to the week in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $830k with a small bit of activity in MCBG (61k shares) and SBMH (11.68m shares) while the rest of the market was very quiet.
A woeful start to the week in Lagos from an activity point of view as turnover amounted to $7.18m with Zenith ($1.42m) the only name breaking the $1m mark. Banks came under pressure with the sector falling -1.20% thanks to Zenith (-4.14%) and UBA (-1.69%). Consumers (-1.19%) were also weaker as Flour Mills (-7.24%), PZ Cussons (-4.23%) and NB (-2.59%) took some serious strain.
