Not a bad day in Gaborone with Stanchart ($270k) being the lion’s share of the market and BTCL ($34k) the only two counters worth mentioning on the bourse.
Turnover was down 50.5% from previous day with Equity (-1.1%, KES43.25) lead the way in Nairobi on the back of foreign trading. Other counters worth noting KCB (-1.7%, KES44.00) and Co-op (-0.6%, KES17.45) after reporting PBT decline by 11.3% y/y in 1H17. Foreign participation on the day was up 65.6% from 53.9%.
A quieter day in Port Louis with MCBG (unch, Rs268) accounting for to 50.1% activity. SBM gained 0.3% to close at Rs7.88.
Once again it was all about the banks with foreign buying (and local selling) in the Tier 1 names most evident, with the likes Nestle (-0.82%, N1210.00), Guaranty (unch, N37.10), Dangcem (+2.71%, N219.80) and Zenith (+2.27%, N23.01) seeing some decent crossing. The financial sector was up 0.06% and consumers inched slightly higher albeit on small volumes.

A quiet day in Dar today with the most active stock in the market being CRDB which closed at TZS200 with $53k exchanging hands. TBL (TZS13000) and Vodacom (TZS900) traded on small volumes throughout the day.
Some activity in NMBZ (4.20c, $726k) accounting for 63% of the market and Seed Co (151.00c, $219k) the only names worth mentioning in Harare.
