The market continues to see lackluster volumes.
Another average start to the week from an activity point of view with turnover amounting to $4.7m as locals continue to dominate. Foreign selling pressure continues to drive Safcom lower as the telco fell -1.1% on 10.8m shares. Local selling pressure drove EQBNK -1.8% lower as foreigners drove demand in the name. A foreign cross in EABL boosted activity in the brewer as 169k shares traded. A local cross in the usually illiquid NIC Bank drove turnover in the name as 725k shares traded.
Trades in Rogers, SBM and MCBG carried the day. Rogers gained 4.2% to close at Rs29.70 on the back of 73.4k shares traded. SBM traded 2.6m shares to close at Rs1.01 (+1%), while its banking counterpart MCBG traded a total of 9,901 shares to close steady at Rs198. Lotto ended the session as the biggest loser, closing -1.5% (Rs10) down.
It was a sub-par start to the week in Lagos as turnover amounted to $20.2m with a few crosses in GTB $ (7.67m), Flour Mills ($3.67m), Oando ($1.26m) and DangCem ($1.19m) driving proceedings. Banks closed the day slightly lower with the sector falling -0.19% thanks Zenith (-2.29%) and UBA (-0.56%). Consumers (+0.02%) were bascially flat with Dangote Sugar (+1.45%) the best perfromer. Market heavyweight DangCem closed the day -0.64% lower.

The market opened the week on a quiet note, as turnover was sluggish. Delta, Econet and Innscor were the only counters to make a significant contribution today. Delta traded 191,790 shares to close unchanged at 111c, while Econet and Innscor traded 31,638 and 458,624 shares, closing flat at 54c and 60c respectively.
