Kenya: NSE 20 +0.29%, USD 5.4m

Foreigners accounted for 51.92% of sales in today’s session as their selling interests were mainly skewed towards the likes of Safaricom (unch, KES16.10), KCB (-0.9%, KES57.00) and Equity Bank (-0.5%, KES46.50). KCB reached its two week low in the session as 1.8m shares were exchanged in the name. Centum remained flat at KES63.00 ahead of the release of its FY15 results tomorrow.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.03%, USD 310k

Turnover took a huge slump today whilst indices remain strong. MCBG traded a total of 8.7k shares to close firm at Rs209.50 (+0.5%) as SBM shed 1.1% after trading 984k shares – the counter closed at Rs0.93. Hotelier NMH closed up 2.4% at Rs21 on the back of 25k shares traded.

Nigeria: ASI -0.35%, USD 18.2m

One of the highlights of the day was an off market cross of 17m Mobil done at N171.93 ($14.6m) with NIPCO Plc being the buyer while AMCON was the seller. The market was rather slow as a large cross in GTB ($9.5m) helped boost activity as total value traded amounted to $18.2m. There were also a few crosses in the likes of Guinness ($2.1m), Zenith ($1m) and UBA ($1m). Banks closed the day higher with the sector gaining +0.06% thanks to UBA (+1.37%), GTB (+0.75%) and Zenith (+0.51%). Consumers (-0.56%) closed lower as Dangote Flour (-3.33%) and NB (-1.31%) dragged the sector lower.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +1.99%, USD 152k

A generally slow day on the bourse as turnover only amounted to a measly $152k. Delta, Econet and First Mutual were the only notable counters to register trades in the session as they contributed $64k, $12k and $5k towards turnover respectively.
