Kenya: NSE 20 +0.05%, USD 6.6m

A rather quiet end to the week in Nairobi as local investors continue to dominate the market (foreign participation only 38%). As usual the most active names were the 4 large names. In the banks Equity Bank closed unchanged at KES52.00 while KNCB rose by 80bps to KES59.50. Safcom was the most active stock although some profit-taking (-90bps, KES15.80) took place in the telco. EABL meanwhile gained 1.3% to KES304.00. Outside of these 4 names there was very little that took place.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.54%, USD 1m

The index closed the week off in the red at 1,977.94 points. MCBG accounted 56% of total market turnover, trading a total of 105k shares. The counter went down to Rs197.50 (-0.8%) on a cross of 65.8k shares near market end. SBM traded a massive 2.3m shares to close unchanged at Rs0.99.

Nigeria: ASI -0.82%, USD 30.4m

It was another dull day in Lagos with the early part of the session dominated by a chunky cross in the normally illiquid Unity Bank. The rest of the session was mostly quiet although a couple of large cross ($7.3m) in UACN went through just before the close. The banks shed 1.23% for the day with most names closing in the red. Activity was centered on GTB (unch, N25.00) and Zenith (-1.90%, N20.60). The consumers were largely unchanged for the day although outside of NB (-71bps, N139.00) the sector was quiet.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.05%, USD 1.3m

A significant increase in turnover was seen today, as trades in Delta, Econet and Seedco drove proceedings. Delta (+0.09%, 109c), Econet (unch, 51c) and Seedco (unch, 106c) each traded 250k, 237k and 364k shares respectively. The index closed the week off in positive territory, after enduring a five day slump.
