An uneventful day in Gaborone.
KNCB (+0.9%) was the most active name on the day after releasing Q3 2016 results on Tuesday with 3.7m shares changing hands in the name. There was also some action in the usually illiquid Centum (+0.6%) as 2.5m shares traded. The other market heavyweights Safcom (+2.5%), EQBNK (-0.8%) and EABL (-1.1%) were very quiet.
Once again activity was heavily focused on MCBG (unch, Rs217.75). In economic news, the MPC kept the Key Repo Rate unchanged at 4%. Monthly tourist arrivals for October increased +19.6%.
GTB ($1.1m) was once again the only name worth mentioning from an activity point of view on another dull day in Lagos. Banking stocks managed to close firmly in positive territory with the sector gaining +3.08% thanks to GTB (+4.65%). Consumer closed -0.47% lower on dire volume.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A somewhat quieter day in Harare although the index continues along its merry run thanks to local buyers. The major trades today went through in Old Mutual (322c) with the major names rather quiet.
