Nothing much to report from Gaborone.
The market could never get going today outside of the odd cross. Today the action was heavily centered on EABL (-80bps, KES255), KNCB (unch, KES30.50) and Safcom (-30bps, KES19.85). The rest of the market was extremely dull. In economic news, the Kenya Central Bank kept the benchmark interest unchanged at 10%.
A very active day in Port Louis thanks to crosses in MCBG and SBMH as 164k shares and 2.9m shares changed hands in the names respectively while the rest of the market was dead quiet.
The market tried to get itself out of first gear as we approach month end but it could never really shake off the sluggish sentiment. We did see a couple of crosses in names such as GTB (+1.77%, N21.89), Nestle (unch, N810.00) and NB (unch, N141.01). Both Banks (+24bps) and Consumers (-1bp) showed little direction as we still lack any catalyst in the market.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A decent start to the week in Harare from an activity point of view with some action in Econet ($587k) and Delta ($408k) leading the way. On the economic front, today saw the release of the much anticipated bond notes.
