Botswana: DCI unch, USD $166k

A quiet end to the week in Gaborone as the DCI closed unch again with unusual names Barclays and BTCL accounting for 88% of the market turnover.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.78%, USD 12.90m

Today was all about KCB as locals dominated activity in Nairobi. The bank closed unchanged at KES42.25 accounting for 60.3% of total market turnover. There also some small activity in Safcom (unch, KES25.50), Equity (unch, KES39.25) and EABL (unch, KES249). Foreigners were net sellers accounting for 35.7% of total market sales.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.06%, USD 1.42m

Turnover for the day amounted to Rs43.7m, another decent day thanks to the usual suspect MCBG (-0.6%, 273.25) almost 48% of the market as 114k shares changed hands in the name while there was also some action in Excelsior (-1.3%, Rs18.75) as 298k shares traded. Lux (unch, Rs58.25), NMH (+0.4%, Rs12.25) and Grit (-2.2%, 1.35) the other tickers with decent positions on the bourse.

Nigeria: ASI -1.84%, USD 8.21m

A quiet end to a quiet week with some profit taking evident in Lagos today. Banking stocks closed the day -0.93% lower with losses in Union Bank (-3.57%, N0.54), GTB (-2.17%, N37.00) and Stanbic (-2.00%, N39.20). While losses in Cadbury (-4.45%, N10.51), PZ (-3.81%, N25.00) and NB (-3.07%, N175.00) depressed the consumer sector index. Also, losses Dangcem (-3.83%, N205.80) and Wapco (-0.77%, N49.97) depressed the Industrial sector index. Notable trades of the day were Nigerian Breweries ($1.83m), Nestle ($1.05m) and Guaranty ($1m).

Zimbabwe: Industrials +5.25%, USD 10.32m

A great way to end the week in Harare with Padenga (100.00c, $3.72m) almost 40% of total market turnover, Delta (295.71c, $3.53m) and OKZ (37.00c, $1.33m) performing exceptionally well accounting for 83% of total market turnover. There were also some decent activity in Econet (79.52c, $279k), Simbisa (77.02c, $240k) and Innscor (152.68c, $207k).
