Botswana: DCI unch, USD $381k

The lion's share of today's activity took place FNBB ($116k), BIHL ($103k) and Letshego ($90k) to close the week on a quiet note.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.33%, USD 2.07m

Not the best way to end the week on Nairobi bourse as activity remains stagnant. The major action went through in SCOM (unch, KES25.75) with foreigners being net sellers. There was also a bit of activity in KCB (unch. KES43.00) with the counter recording the highest turnover for the day. The rest of the market was quiet as foreign participation was 45.1% compared to yesterday’s 48.3%.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.31%, USD 930k

Things slowed down in Port Louis as turnover was down to $930k, skewed by a handful of securities. SUN was up 0.1% after releasing FY2017 showing improved performance. SBMH traded flat at Rs7.82 with 477.4k shares exchanging hands. The Semdex index clipped 0.31%.higher again today.

Nigeria: ASI +0.85%, USD $10.21m

At the close of trading today, the Nigerian equities market traded higher, as the NSE ASI closed the week with 85bps gains to settle at 35,488.81 points. The banking Index and the Industrial sector index closed in a positive territory (+1.16%) and (+2.30%) respectively, while, the consumer sector closed red (-0.11%). A few notable counters on the day were transactions executed in GTB (+1.67%, $4.3m), Nestle (+0.40%, $2.0mn), Access (-0.21%, $627k), Zenith (+0.23%, $466k) and Unilever (+5.00%, $411k).

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.46%, USD 7.82m

A solid end to the week as turnover increased to $7.8m. Axia ($2.3m) accounted for 30% of turnover, it was down -5.05% despite reporting a 6% increase in after tax profit in the year ended June 2017. Other notable trades were Simbisa ($1.78m), Delta ($1.41m), Seedco ($934) and Innscor ($902m). The industrial index gained +0.46 % geared towards BATZ, Econet and Old Mutual.
