A muted session today with nothing of any real substance going through.
Absolutely nothing to report from Nairobi as foreigners were all but absent from the market today. There was a small bit of activity in Safcom as 3.4m shares traded.
A rather uneventful day in Port Louis. The main action took place in the banks with MCBG closing at Rs206.75 (-10bps) while SBMH closed at Rs0.70 (+1.4%).
A very solid day from an activity point of view with some action in GTB ($6.6m), DangCem ($3m), UBA ($2.6m), Zenith ($2.3m) and FBNH ($1.5m). Banks had another solid day with the sector gaining +3.58% thanks to FBNH (+9.52%), UBA (+6.57%) and Zenith (+3.57%). Consumers (+4.52%) also closed higher thanks to NB (+5.00%) and Nestle (+5.00%). It seems that interest has definitely returned to the Nigerian market in the short term. Only time will tell if this will last over the longer term though.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another incredibly dull day in Harare as nothing notable took place.
