A dire day in Gaborone with turnover amounting to a paltry $8k.
A very sluggish day in Nairobi as turnover amounted to a dissapointing $3.8m with activity pretty evenly split between foreigners and locals. A decent cross in CFC Stanbic (foreign buyer/ local seller) drove activity as 1.06m shares traded in the usually illiquid name. Centum was also relatively active as 1.75m shares changed hands on the day. Market heavyweights Safcom, EABL, KNCB and EQBNK were very quiet.
A large cross in Sanlam (200k shares) boosted activity on an otherwise dull day with turnover amounting to $2.22m. There was a small bit of activity in MCBG (53k shares) and SBMH (6.29m shares).
Another pathetic day in Lagos as the lack of interest continues. The main reason for the fall was the drip in Dangcem (-5%, N165.30). This came after the announcement by DangCem that they were to cut the cost of cement. Wapco followed the sector down and shed 4% to N97.00 on big volumes. The banking sector did actually close marginally in the green with the bulk of the action taking place in Zenith (+7bps, N15.26) and GTB (+93bps, N23.90). Consumers ended the day down 61bps although outside of Nestle (-1.17%, N830.00) the sector was extremely quiet.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Nothing much on the go in Harare today as turnover amounted to a dull $381k with Delta ($240k) the only name worth mentioning.
