Botswana: DCI +0.05%, USD 130k

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.07%, USD 5.8m

Activity remains muted in Nairobi. The most active name was Safcom (-70bps, KES14.75) as heavy foreign trading on both sides of the counter improved volumes in the name. Foreign buying in KNCB was also evident as the bank rose by 1.7% to KES59.50 while BATK closed unchanged at KES900 on foreign trading. Equity Bank was driven by local buying as the counter closed up 90bps at KES53.50.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.04%, USD 2.32m

For the first time this week indices closed the day off in positive territory. Total turnover was mainly geared towards MCBG, which traded a total of 136k shares, closing flat at Rs197.50. SBM stuck to its usual trading patterns, registering trades between the Rs1.00 and Rs1.01 mark, to close the session off at Rs1.01 on the back of 3.8m shares exchanged.

Nigeria: ASI -2.73%, USD 22.2m

The complete lack of interest in the Nigerian bourse persists as investors remain uninterested. The index took a big hammering on the back of banks (-2.50%) and consumers (-2.28%). All banks closed in the red with volumes heavily skewed to the Tier 1 names. Most active were names like FBNH (-3.87%, N6.70), Zenith (-1.57%, N15.69) and ETI (unch, N17.00). Consumers were dominated by NB (-2.12%, N129.01) and Nestle (-2.42%, N746.25).

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.33%, USD 1.02m

Activity returned to the market, as BATZ, Delta , Econet and Old Mutual recorded notable volumes. The beverage giant, Delta closed the day weak at 115c (-0.86%) on the back of 134k shares traded. Lafage, however was the biggest loser of the day closing at 40c (-20%). Meanwhile ABCH and TAH were officially delisted from the exchange today.
