Botswana: DCI +0.08%, USD 840k

Decent day in Gaborone as value traded amounted to USD 840k thanks to a cross of 300k Sechaba. The rest of the market was rather quiet.

Egypt: EGX 30 +0.13%, USD 110.8m

The market started the day with notable positive sentiment to push the EGX30 to a high of 8,011.09 points. Around mid-session state TV announced three bombs exploded in front Cairo University, triggering a minor selling wave that left the EGX30 up 0.13% to 7,930.07 points. The market continues to trade weak volumes compared to average turnovers, with a total turnover of USD 110.8m. GCC and international institutions continue to be net buyers, targeting names such as JUFO, EKHO, and TMGH leaving each to end the day up 0.46%, 2.68%, and 0.63% respectively. ETEL managed to gain notable interest today after news that Telecom Egypt would receive the MVNO license for EGP2.5 billion, with the former ending up 2.83% to close at EGP17.45. Retail along with local institutions continue to be net sellers in the market.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.59%, USD 3.2m

A very slow day in Nairobi with value traded amounting to a dull $3.2m with foreign participation falling to 23.9%. There was a small bit of activity in the banking stocks as 1.71m shares traded in EQBNK while 1.05m shares changed hands in KNCB. Safcom was very quiet again today as 3.46m shares traded in the telco.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.02%, USD 649k

A very slow day in Port Louis as value traded amounted to USD 649k with some small action in SBM (7.6m shares) the only activity worth noting. The suspension will finally be lifted on MCB tomorrow after the counter's name change and it will trade under the ticker MCBG MP.

Nigeria: ASI +0.22%, USD 27.91m

Block trading once again dominated proceedings in Lagos with some big crosses in NB ($5.20m), Zenith ($4.80m), WAPCO ($3.35m) and GTB ($2.91m) leading the way. Banks (+0.27%) continued to rally today thanks to gains in Zenith (+2.05%) while while GTB fell -1.06%. Consumers (+0.01%) closed ever so slightly higher with IntBrew (+4.20%) and Unilever (+2.10%) the shining lights in the sector. WAPCO put in a very strong performance with the counter gaining +5.00% on big volume.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.18%, Mining unch, USD 1.57m

Some activity in Econet ($729k) and Delta ($376k) helped increase turnover to a respectable USD 1.57m. There was also some action in Innscor ($219k) and BAT ($122k). The market however close the day lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.18%
