Botswana: DCI unch, USD 7k

Another dire day in Gaborone as value traded amounted to a paltry USD 7k.

Egypt: Market closed for the day.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.19%, USD 7.6m

It was a good day from an activity point of view to end the week as value traded amounted to $7.6m with foreigners accounting for 70% of activity. The two major banking stocks Equity Bank and Kenya Commercial Bank drove turnover with 7.91m shares and 3.33m shares changing hands respectively as foreigners dominated activity in the counters. The usually quiet Kenya Power saw some foreign buying as a total of 4.12m shares traded with the name gaining 2.1%. Safcom was extremely quiet as 2.4m shares traded.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.45%, USD 4.89m

It was another great day in Port Louis as value traded amounted to USD 4.89m thanks mostly to a foreign cross of 2m shares in Atlantic Leaf Properties which accounted for 67.5% of total turnover. Activity slowed down in MCB today as 48k shares changed hands while there was some decent activity in Lux Island Resorts with 385k shares traded.

Nigeria: ASI +0.43%, USD 23.9m

It was a decent end to the week in Lagos as value traded amounted to $23.9m. The usual suspects GTB ($7.24m), NB ($1.51m) and Zenith ($1.42m) drove turnover. Sterling Bank was surprisingly active today as 270m shares traded. It was good to see the rally in banking stocks continue today as the Index gained +0.53% thanks to GTB (+3.65%) and Access (+2.80%) while Zenith came under pressure and fell -2.66%. Consumers (+1.42%) managed to bounce today thanks to Nestle which managed to gain +7.08%. There was not much on the go in the cements today.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.06%, Mining -3.32%, USD 2.96m

It was another good day in Harare in terms of activity as value traded amounted to USD 2.96m. It was once again the big names that lead the way forward with crosses in the likes of Delta ($1.08m), Econet ($775k) and Seedco ($141k). There was also a cross in the usually quiet Zimplow as $486k worth of stock changed hands. The market however closed the day lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.06%.
