Not much on the go in Gaborone today as value traded amounted to USD 258k with Choppies (238k shares) accounting for the majority of activity.
It was an unbelieveable day in Nairobi from an activity point of view as value traded amounted to $24.9m thanks to a few mammoth crosses in Safcom as a total of 123m shares traded in the telco with foreigners accounting for over 90% of the volume on both sides. Foreign demand (97.4%) pushed KNCB higher (+2.2%) with the name closing at KES 47.25 while locals (61.3%) pushed EQBNK +0.8% higher. A foreign cross of 500k ARML helped push the counter 1.8% to close at KES 84.50. There was a fair amount of activity in EABL today as atotal of 506k shares traded.
It was a solid day to end the week from an activity point of view in Port Louis as value traded amounted to USD 1.63m thanks mostly to MCBG which accounted for 78% of tutnover as 180k shares changed hands in a number of crosses. Not much on the go in SBM and NMH as 3.7m shares and 8k shares traded in the names respectively. March tourist arrivals fell by -3.7% from a year earlier.
It was another solid day in Lagos to end the week as value traded amounted to a satisfactory $24.9m. Crosses in the likes of NB ($8.01m) Access ($2.77m), Cadbury ($2.64m), FBNH ($1.67m) and Zenith ($1.26m) drove proceedings. Banks had a very good day with the Index gaining +1.31% thanks to good performances in tier-1 banks Access (+4.99%), UBA (+2.78%) and Zenith (+2.12%). Consumers (-0.37%) closed the day lower with NB (-1.23%) and Dangote Flour (-0.98%) coming under pressure. In the cements, WAPCO (-1.85%) ended the day in the red while DangCem closed unchanged.

It was a much better day in Harare as value traded amounted to USD 1.21m thanks to some action in the likes of Willdale ($396k), CBZ ($253k) and Delta ($246k). Delta came under pressure today falling -4.35% after releasing a dissapointing trading update yesterday after the session. The market came under pressure after the slide in Delta with the Industrial Index falling -1.20%.
