Some crosses in Letshego at 291t and 292t were the bulk of today’s action while Sefalana saw some milder activity at the 1367t level.
An iffy sort of start to the week from an activity point of view in Nairobi with turnover amounting to $5m as foreign activity fell to 59%. Safcom was the most active stock on the day as the telco gained +0.9% on foreign demand as 11m shares traded. Some activity in BATK as 200k shares traded (foreign buyer/ local seller). Not much on the go in KNCB as 1.2m shares traded while EQBNK (287k shares) was very quiet.
Outside of normal trading there was a large cross of 10.9m Mauritius Freeport at Rs8.28 on the DEM Crossings Board. Normal trading was extremely quiet and uneventful.
Another rather dull start to the week in Lagos with some action in the likes of Guinness (+3.35m), GTB ($2.48m), Champion Brew ($1.84m) and FBNH ($1.28m) boosting activity. Banks closed the day lower with the sector falling -0.81% as Zenith (-3.11%) was the main loser. Consumers (+0.15%) managed to close higher thanks to Flour Mills (+2.59%) and Guinness (+1.96%) after Guinness put out a press release.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A dull start to the week in Harare as the market was again on the soft side.
