Equity bank, EABL and Safaricom accounted for 67.8% of market activity today. Selling pressure in Safaricom resulted in the name closing soft at KES16.40 (-0.6%) whilst the other mover EABL closed up 3.3% at KES314- the highest level in 15 consecutive sessions. Equity bank closed the session unchanged on the back of 6.2m shares traded. Foreigners accounted for 75.74% of the buying today.
All indices closed in the green. CFS and SBM accounted for 78.2% of total market turnover. 2.3m shares in CFS crossed at Rs9.80 before closing up 0.4% at Rs9.78. SBM was the most actively traded name as the counter traded a total of 19.7m shares to close unchanged at Rs0.93. MCB gained 0.7% to settle at Rs204.75 on the back of 14.5k shares traded.
Another relatively quiet day in Lagos. The market opened with crosses in NB and Nestle although outside of this there was nothing going on for at least the first hour. Some activity did pick up as the day progressed, banks eventually closing down 1.58%. Most action took place in GTB (-3.67%, N27.55), Zenith (-1.75%, N20.20) and ETI (+78bps, N21.99). The consumers gained a marginal 32bps with almost all the action taking place in nestle (+3.53%, N880.00) and NB (-1.00%, N148.50).

Delta, Econet and Seedco were the most actively traded names in the market today. The counters contributed $1m, $127k and $183 towards turnover respectively. Top gainers included BAT (+0.09%, 1140c) and Innscor (+2.40, 63.50c).
