Market activity was mainly dominated by the likes of Letshego and Sefalana.
The market was rather upbeat today as market activity was heightened by trades in the likes of EABL and KCB. The counters traded a total of 2.6m and 1.4m shares to close at KES305 (-1.0%) and KES55.50 (unchanged) respectively. Foreign participation stood at 75.4% as foreigners were mainly skewed towards the sell side of this. Other movers included Safaricom (+1.2%, KES16.30) and Equity Bank (+0.5%, 46.25), NMG (+5%, KES189) and Kenya Airways (+5.8%, KES7.25).
Turnover was mainly skewed towards SBMH and LUX as the counters accounted for 56% and 37% of total turnover respectively. Banking giant, SBM traded a mouth watering 66m shares to close the session unchanged at Rs0.89 whilst LUX shed 0.3% after 608k shares were exchanged in the name. MCB settled at Rs217.25 after trading a paltry 27k shares.
A better start to the week than what we have become accustomed to of late as turnover amounted to $22m thanks to crosses in NB ($6.13m), Access ($2.73m), Unilever ($1.99m) and GTB ($1.54m). Elsewhere, there was an off-market cross of 49.69m Oando done at N16.50 ($4.12m). Banks closed the day on the front foot with the sector gaining +1.44% thanks to good performances from Zenith (+2.34%), ETI (+2.27%) and UBA (+2.04%). Consumers (+0.18%) also closed higher thanks to Guinness (+5.00%) and Cadbury (+3.84%).

The market remains muted with a few pockets of activity along the way. Top movers included the likes of DZLH, Delta and Econet. DZHL contributed the most towards turnover as 5m shares were exchanged in the name.
