Another slow day on the bourse
The upward momentum continues in the market as foreign participation stood at 72%. Top movers of the day included the likes of Safaricom (+0.3%, KES16.10), EABL (-0.3%, KES308) and KCB (-0.9%, KES55.50) – KCB closed at its all year low. The top movers accounted for 61% of total market activity.
Indices continue to close strong as total market turnover was mainly geared towards MCB - accounted 74.4% of total turnover. The counter closed up 0.3% at Rs218 on the back of 174k shares traded. SBM closed the session flat at Rs0.91 after 6.1m shares were exchanged in the name.
Another day, and yet another dull day in Lagos with just 1 or 2 crosses livening up proceedings. Unilever was again the most traded stock as the international company continues to buy stock in the open market. Banks fell by 1.09% with all Tier 1 names closing in the red. Activity was centered in GTB (-18bps, N27.00) and Zenith (-2.01%, N19.50). Consumers fell by 36bps with activity mainly in NB (+1bp, N150.00) and Nestle (+2bps, N850.25). There was also a couple of crosses in Wapco (+5bps, N100.05).
