Nothing to write home about today.
A very quiet day to start to the week in Nairobi. Foreign participation was skewed to the sell side although on such low volumes its difficult to read much into it. EABL (unch, KES317.00) and Safcom (+30bps, KES16.10) accounted for the lion’s share of the volumes with nothing else worth noting.
A relatively dull day on the Port Louis bourse. Almost the entire day’s action took place in MCBG (unch, Rs208.50) and SBMH (unch, Rs0.94).
Locals one again were heavily involved in some crosses which livened up another generally dull day. Banks ended the day marginally in the green (-17bps) with some volumes going through in the likes of Access (+3.62%, N6.30), GTB (-74bps, N26.65) and Zenith (-1.10%, N19.80). Consumers gained 36bps for the session with chunky action in Guinness (+10%, N185.00), NB (-17bps, N150.00) and Nestle (-1bp, N850.00). There was also some chunky action in Flourmills (N35.22).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A much better day in Harare today as turnover amounted to $1.97m thanks to crosses in ECO ($766k), Delta ($494k), CBZ ($361k) and Innscor ($292k). The market closed the day higher with the Industrial Index gaining +0.53%
