Botswana: DCI -0.42%, USD 468k

There was a little bit of action in Gaborone as value traded amounted to USD 468k thanks to a cross in Primetime (1.6m shares). The rest of the market was very quiet.

Egypt: Closed for the day.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.22%, USD 10.7m

Solid end to the week in Nairobi with value traded amounting to $10.7m as foreigners accounted for 45.1% of turnover. KNCB ($3.44m) was the most active counter on the day after releasing Q1 2014 results late on Wednesday evening and managed to gain 2% to close at KES 50.00. EQBNK ($2.98m) was also very active with foreigners accounting for 96.7% of purchases in the name. Not much on the go in Safcom as 6m shares changed hands in the telco.

Mauritius: Semdex: -0.42%, USD 477k

As expected after yesterday’s holiday we witnessed a very dull session in Port Louis. The Sem-7 fell by 43bps on the back of weakness in MCB (-23bps, Rs218.00), ENL Land (-2.44%, Rs50.00), Alteo (-85bps, Rs35.00) and NMH (-58bps, Rs86.00).

Nigeria: ASI +0.23%, USD 24.75m

It was not a bad day from an activity point of view to end the week in Lagos as value traded amounted to $24.75. Crosses in the likes of Zenith ($5.88m), Seplat ($4.08m), FBNH ($2.91m) and GTB ($2.15m) drove proceedings. Banks had a good day and managed to close 1.38% higher with good performances from Access (+4.88%), GTB (+3.51%) and UBA (+1.93%). Consumers (+0.31%) also managed to close in Positive territory with Nestle (+3.08%) and NB (+0.67%) leading the way.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.39%, Mining unch, USD 251k

It was dead quiet in Harare as value traded amounted to USD 251k with only 16k shares and 3k shares traded in Delta and Econet respectively. The market closed higher with the Industrial Index gaining 0.39%.
