Thanks to some crossing in Letshego at the 214t level the activity in Gaborone was decent today. Unfortunately nothing else happened outside of this.
The market managed to maintain its bullish momentum leading the EGX30 to end the day up 1.02% to close at 8,553.43 points. Volumes continue to be healthy, where the market traded a total turnover of USD 182m. The market managed to retain its optimism lead by notable buying accumulation from institutional investors (local, GCC and international), targeting names such as ESRS, AMER and ETEL leading each to end the day up 3.16%, 6.20% and 1.06%, respectively. Local retail investors continue to book profits, targeting names such as UEGC and SVCE leaving each to end the day down 1.12% and 0.35%, respectively.
A very active day in Nairobi as foreign investors returned after a day’s absence. Equity Bank was by far the most active stock as more than $5m changed hands as the bank slid by 1.2% to KES 39.75. In EABL, more than $3m traded as the brewer dropped by 30bps to KES 300. Other active names included Safcom (unch, KES 12.60), KenolKobil (-1.2%, KES 8.50) and Bamburi (-1.1%, KES 173).
The banks both saw some chunky trading in today’s session. Both MCBG and SBM closed unchanged at Rs 214 and Rs 1.02 respectively. The Sem-7 closed unchanged as all stocks didn’t move for the day.
Another decent day in Lagos as value traded amounted to $27.7m. Activity was centred around FBNH ($4.48m), Zenith ($4.20m), NB ($3.87m) and GTB ($2.70m) thanks to a number of crosses. There was also some action in Nestle ($1.33m), DangCem ($1.15m) and Guinness ($1.06m). The rally in banking stocks continued with the Index gaining +0.73% thanks to ETI (+7.12%) and Zenith (+0.86%). Consumers (+0.74%) were also stronger thanks to NB (+2.46%) while the rest of the sector was rather flat.

Rather quiet in Harare today as value traded amounted to USD 471k with Seedco ($167k), Econet ($129k) and Delta ($122k) accounting for the majority of turnover. The market closed lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.74%.
