It was a better day in Gaborone but still nothing to write home about as value traded amounted to USD 285k thanks to some action in Letshego (617k shares).
Activity dropped off today but was still very solid as value traded amounted to $11.8m. Safcom ($5.43m) was the day's most active counter on the back of foreign crosses with the telco gaining +0.4% to close at KES 12.85. EQBNK (+0.6%) managed to close higher on the back of foreign purchases with 3.2m shares changing hands. A large local cross in Housing Finance boosted activity in the name as 3.23m shares traded. Foreign selling put pressure on BMBC (-1.1%) as 195k shares traded.
The bulk of today’s action took place in the normally illiquid Ciel which gained 1.67% to Rs 6.10. In the Sem-7 there were mixed fortunes for the banks as MCB gained 95bps to Rs 212 while SBM fell by 97bps to Rs 1.02.
It was a rather active day to end the week as value traded amounted to $29.01m. Zenith ($7.60m), GTB ($2.77m) and DangCem ($1.75m) were the main drivers behind today's activity. A large cross in the usually illiquid UACN Property ($5.67m) also helped boost activity. Banks (-0.03%) closed the day ever so slightly lower with Zenith (-1.61%) being the major drag on the sector. Consumers (-0.09%) were also slightly weaker as Dangote Sugar (-1.08%) was one of the worst performers in the sector.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
It was a rather average day in Harare as value traded amounted to USD 1.11m with Econet ($567k) and Delta ($213k) driving activity. The market closed lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.21%.
