It was a pretty active week in Gaborone although today’s session was pretty eventful. Pretty much the only trading took place in Choppies (420t).
A quiet day in Nairobi. Equity Bank was the most active stock as foreign buying pushed the stock 1.8% higher to KES 42.75 while KNCB tagged along for the ride as it gained 50bps to KES 50.00. There were 2 crosses (both sides foreign) in ARML (-70bps, KES 76.00) and BRIT (+2%, KES 18.00). Safcom and EABL were both soft on small volumes.
A massive day to end the week in Mauritius thanks to a chunky cross in MCBG which was the bulk of today’s volumes. MCBG closed down 34bps at Rs219.00 while SBM gained 96bps to Rs1.05. There were also chunky trades in the likes of PBL and Omnicane.
A very dull day in Lagos to end the week. Banks ended the session marginally in the red with most names little changed. There were only decent volumes in Zenith, UBA and GTB. Consumers rebounded after yesterday’s poor performance by gaining 96bps. NB bounced back after yesterday’s freefall by gaining 2.66% to N174.64. Oando closed unchanged at N20.00 with most stocks across the market very quiet.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The ZSE’s main index inched higher on solid volumes after a chunky special bargain in Econet. Econet’s special bargain was almost the entire market share as the telco closed at 72c. Delta traded unchanged at 117c.
