Letshego (unch, 225t) was the major traded stock for the second consecutive day with very little trading taking place outside of this name.
Turnover fell slightly as foreign participation was much reduced with foreigners notably switching from the sell side to the buy side. Safcom and KNCB were the 2 most active stocks with both names closing unchanged at KES12.80 and KES49.75 respectively. Both names saw a couple of crosses go through. A cross in KNOC (local seller, foreign buyer) was also a big part of today’s activity while Equity Bank finally showed signs of the rally ending as it shed 60bps to KES44.25.
Some chunky action in the normally illiquid UBP (-30bps, Rs82.50) was the bulk of the turnover in a generally quiet session. In the Sem-7 we saw losses for MCBG (-46bps, Rs216) and Terra (-54bps, Rs36.80) while a couple of stocks increased slightly. .
A mixed bag in Lagos to end the week. Banks fell by 68bps with GTB leading the fall (-2.93%, N28.83). GTB also lead the trading activity as the name saw some decent two way flow ($4.1m). The consumers rose by 38bps with NB (+91bps, N166.50) continuing its run of 1 good day followed by 1 bad day. Nestle saw some chunky crossing as the name closed unchanged at N1050. Oando’s rally shows no signs of ending as it gained another 10% to N30.37, again on big volumes. Also strong today was Transcor which rose by 5% to N4.89 on big volumes.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A strong end to the week in Harare with the large caps once again leading the rally. Delta gained a further 2.49% to 124.01c while Econet rose by 68bps to 74c. Innscor rose by 2.58% to 80.01c and is now above its 2014 opening price. Foreign participation still remains woefully low.
