A very impressive day in Gaborone thanks to a cross in Sechaba as 4.5m shares changed hands in the name while there was also some activity in Choppies with 2m shares traded.
Once again some chunky crosses dominated the Nairobi landscape although foreign participation was much reduced from recent weeks, although was still heavily skewed towards the buy side. Safcom once again was the most active stock although the telco came off a bit and closed at KES18.40 (-1.3%). The banks finally found some decent buying and in decent size with local investors heavily involved in both names. Equity Bank gained 3.8% to KES27.00 while KNCB rose by 3.0% to KES26.00.
Another decent day in Port Louis thanks to some activity in MCBG and NMH as 85k shares and 612k shares changed hands in the names respectively.
Yet another dismal day as investors remain cautious while the market has little to no direction or catalyst. Banks rose by 67bps although outside of some nice crosses in Zenith (unch, N15.00) the sector was dull. Consumers ended the day down 33bps although volumes were extremely dull yet again.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Some action in Delta ($352k) the only name worth mentioning on a dull day in Harare.
