Nothing to speak of in Gaborone as value traded amounted to a paltry 20k.
It was a good end to the week from an activity point of view in Nairobi as value traded amounted to $9.3m with KNCB ($3.81m) once again dominating proceedings on foreign purchases. There was also some action in the usually illiquid CFC Stanbic as 662k shares traded thanks to a local cross. Centum (1.69m) was rather active after today's press release, stating that they would acquire an additional 66% shareholding in K-REP Bank Limited (K-REP) to bring its total shareholding in K-REP to 67.54%. Safcom was relatively quiet as 6.18m shares changed hands in the telco.
The Semdex fell today whilst the Sem-7 rose by 5bps. The bulk of the action took place in NMH (unch, Rs87.50). Elsewhere in the Sem-7 we saw MCBG fall by 12bps to Rs214.75 while Ciel rose by 1.16% to Rs6.96.
Another solid day to end the week in Lagos as value traded amounted to $36.7m. Most of the activity was once again due to a few blocks in the likes of GTB ($10m), NB ($7.02m), Nestle ($3.08m) and Zenith ($2.86m). Banks started to come under some serious pressure towards the close with the Index falling -1.36% as GTB (-3.68%) and UBA (-2.73%) were the biggest losers. Consumers (-0.21%) closed slightly lower with Dangote Flour (-2.38%) and Dangote Sugar (-2.17%) being amongst the worst performers.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The bulk of today’s activity in Harare took place in the normally illiquid Bindura. In the larger cap names the focus was in Econet (72c) and Delta (126.24c) although both were rather quiet.
