Botswana: DCI +0.10%, USD 157k

Things slowed down in Gaborone with turnover falling to USD 157k as Letshego is the only name worth mentioning as 410k shares traded in the name.

Egypt: EGX 30 +0.26%, USD 84m

Egypt saw a reverse in sentiment today on news that the UAE would give Egypt USD9 billion as aid to purchase petroleum purchases at an interest rate of 2%. However, the market witnessed profit booking pressure mid-session at the 9400 level. The EGX30 inched up 0.26% to close at 9374 points on lower-than-average volumes of USD 84m. GTHE (-1.29%) lead market volumes with 10 million shares changing hands on a volatile trading session after shareholder approval on Djezzy sale. The real estate got hit today, TMGH down 0.77%, HELI 4.30%, PHDC 0.46%, and MNHD -0.93%. Foreigners continue to be net buyers worth EGP36.8 million, accounting for 13% of market participation.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.56%, USD 11.97m

A much improved day in Nairobi with foreign activity also much improved. The bulk of the action took place in Safcom as a chunky cross (local seller, foreign buyer) went through in the telco. The second most active stock was BATK although this was due to yet another suspicious trade in the name. EABL was generally soft as it closed down at KES 284. The banks were generally quiet as EqBnk closed at KES 46 and KNCB mostly traded around the KES 57.50 level.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.02%, USD 1.85m

Some action in MCBG helped boost activity today with 165k shares changing hands as total market turnover amounted to USD 1.85m. There was a small amount of activity in SBM (6.58m shares) and NMH (29k shares).

Nigeria: ASI -0.28%, USD 24.6m

A more active day in Lagos on the face of it although a large portion of this was a local cross in Access worth about $10m. Outside of this the market was markedly quiet. Banks gained a solid 1.19% with most of this thanks to GTB which rose by 2.92% to N28.88 while Access closed up 2.04% at N10.00. The consumers ended the day exactly where it started with DangFlour witnessed a chunky cross. 7UP continues to rally as it gained a further 5.69% to N134. Oando rose by 1.80% to N25.50.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.07%, USD 696k

A quieter day in Harare with turnover dropping to USD 696k with Delta ($299k) and Econet ($146k) the only names worth mentioning. The market closed the day lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.07%.
