It was a slower day as turnover fell to USD 360k with most of the activity centered around Choppies (416k shares).
Egypt managed to close in the green territory for the third day. The EGX30 inched up 0.15% to close at 9288 points on decent volumes of USD 125m. CIEB (-0.47%) posted healthy 2Q2014 results with profits at EGP155.8 million, up 5.6% q-o-q as lending recovers in line with peers. LCSW (+4.54%) set another record as 2Q2014 results were buoyed by stronger pricing and a depreciating EGP. AMER gained 0.71% with 2Q2014 revenues up 96.6% y-o-y on higher deliveries, and better hotel performance. MNHD was down 1.63% following the recent surge ahead of 2Q2014 results, as net income came in 9.6% higher y-o-y on better margins.
Not much on the go in Nairobi today as value traded amounted to $4.3m as foreign investors were all but absent. ARML was the most active name on the day thanks to a local cross as 1.01m shares traded. KNCB was extremly quiet as only 716k shares traded in the name. BCBL released H1 2014 results (EPS +13.4%) yesterday and as such attracted some foreign buyers with 2.5m shares traded on the day.
Banking stocks were mixed today on low volume as MCBG fell -0.24% while SBM closed unchanged. Total turnover fell ever so slightly to USD 970k as the usually illiquid Lottotech (523k shares) was the most active on the day.
Another rather dull day in Lagos as turnover fell to $17.2m with no real crosses to mention. Banking stocks FBNH ($3.35m), GTB ($2.20m) and Zenith ($1.88m) dorve activity today while there was a cross early on in WAPCO ($1.57m). The banking sector came under some pressure as the Index fell -1.16% with Access (-3.03%), ETI (-2.51%) and UBA (-1.32%) dragging the sector lower. Consumers (-0.95%) also closed lower thanks to NB (-2.51%).

It was a decent start to the week in Harare after the long weekend with value traded amounting to USD 1.36m with some action in the likes of Innscor ($431k), Seedco ($426k), Delta ($222k) and Econet (113k). The market closed higher with the Industrial Index gaining +0.17%.
