The second consecutive day with a chunky cross in FNBB BG (355t) in which appears to be local trading. Outside of this the market was dead.
A good day in Egypt as the market gained 0.41% to close at 9047 points on higher-than-average volumes of EGP840 million. GTHE led market volumes, losing 3.54% following disappointing 2Q2014 results impacted by a USD109 million forex loss, a USD152 million interest expense payment, and a USD22 million impairment loss. ESRS gained 1.80% after lagging in the market in the last couple of sessions and managed to regain notable appetite following the release of Ahmed Ezz today. Foreign institutions ended the day as net buyers worth EGP25.3 million, targeting COMI (+1.16%), HRHO (+2.75%), and TMGH (+1.04%).
Activity fell today as turnover amounted to $6.8m on the back of a drop in foreign participation (42.8%). Safcom (+2.8%) continued to rally today as foreign purchases drove the name higher with 17.1m shares changing hands in the telco. There was a small amount of profit taking in KNCB (-0.9%) as locals drove the bank lower. The usually illiquid KenolKobil (+0.6%) was rather active today as purchases were relatively evenly split between locals and foreigners. The rally in EABL also continued with the brewer gaining 2.0% on 137k shares.
The Semdex increased slightly today. The Sem-7 actually fell though by 2bps on the back of weakness in MCBG (-12bps, Rs215) while there was a slight gain for Alteo (+29bps, Rs34.60).
It was a better day in Lagos as turnover increased to $30.1m. There was some decent action in the likes of Zenith ($6.25m), NB ($4.09m), Access ($2.68m) and DangCem ($2.35m) which helped prop up activity. Banks were very strong with the Index gaining +1.24% with star performances from ETI (+4.29%), UBA (+2.09%), FBNH (+1.87%) and GTB (+1.83%). Consumers (-0.01%) however closed slightly lower with PZ (-0.53%) and Guinness (-0.43%) weighing the sector down.

The Zimbabwean bourse ground higher today and on improved volumes. Most of the action was focused on the little traded Dawn (1.15c) while there was also some action in Innscor (80c). Delta traded at 128c and Econet traded at 71.67c.
