Another day where all the action was focused on Choppies as another chunky cross at 550t (foreign seller, local buyer) went through. There was also more muted action in Stanchart (1269t).
A quiet day in Nairobi with only a large cross in the normally illiquid CFCI (local seller, foreign buyer) taking place. In normal trading there really was nothing of note to write home about as sentiment remains generally weak. Safcom (-70bps, KES14.90), KNCB (-50bps, KES47.25) and EABL (-30bps, KES306) all fell while Equity Bank closed unchanged at KES42.00.
Chunky local bookovers in MCBG and SBMH were almost the entire volume in a generally quiet session in Port Louis. In fact, outside of these bookovers hardly anything notable took place.
The relentless sell off continues as red dominates the screens in Lagos. The banks fell by another 1.32% although outside of some chunky crossing in Access Bank (-5.75%, N4.10) the sector was rather dull. There was some mild activity in Zenith Bank (2.30%, N16.45). Consumers were even harder hit as they dropped by 2.39%. The bulk of the action took place in NB (-3.88%, N122.01) and Nestle (-1.86%, N842.00). There was also a cross in Wapco (-43bps, N103.05).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The ZSE continues to soften on a lack of interest. There was some mild activity in Innscor (62c), Seedco ($1.0475) and Econet (29c).
