Another dull day in Gaborone with nothing special to report outside of Letshego’s announcement about their Namibian license.
A very quiet day in Nairobi with foreign investors rather quiet. Safcom was the most active name on the day with the name inching slightly higher to KES12.10. In the banks, KNCB saw some decent action as it rose slightly to KES54.00 while Equity Bank was very muted (unch, KES46.00). EABl practically didn’t trade and instead names like Centum and Diamond Trust saw some trading activity.
The Semdex continued to grind higher today. The Sem-7 rose by 41bps thanks to strength in MCBG (+36bps), NMH (+2.08%) and Ciel (+1.19%) while Terra fell by 27bps.
After a really quiet start activity tried to pick up into the close. Banks slipped by 35bps with performance mixed across the sector. The main stocks that saw action were GTB (unch, N30) and FBNH (-63bps, N15.90) while Fidelity also saw a chunky cross (-2.02%, N1.94). Consumers ended the session unchanged with most of the action taking place in NB (-35bps, N175.61) and PZ (+1.34%, N38.50). As always Oando saw big local trading as it shed a further 2.53% to N25.00.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Zimbabwe continues to trade rather quietly. The large caps were quiet with Econet and Delta closing at 74c and 125c respectively.
