Botswana: DCI +0.05%, USD 274k

Action returned to the BSE albeit muted. Activity was focused on Letshego (245t) and Stanchart (1200t) while Barclays (455t) also saw a little bit of action.

Egypt: EGX 30 +2.12%, USD 88m

A strong day in Egypt as the EGX30 gained 2.12% on the back of COMI results, index closed just shy of its 8,800 resistance level & closed at its day high 8,471.15 on relatively improved volumes of EGP630mn. COMI led in terms of value & closed at 40.81, gaining a staggering 4.37% on the day, CIEB followed suit +6.88%. TMGH managed to regain ground and followed the same pattern & ended at 9.42 up 3.74%. JUFO outpaced +7.58% on good volume cheering news of EGP200mn to be invested by the company to add 2 production lines. Locals were the sole net sellers accounting for 76.19% whilst foreigners were net buyers by USD14.27mn yet on slightly lower market participation of 13%.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.41%, USD 5.9m

A quiet day in Nairobi which also experienced some ATS issues. Foreign investors were largely quiet until later in the session when they bought names like KNCB and EABL. KNCB closed unchanged at KES53.50 and was also the most active stock while Equity Bank lost a bit of ground down to KES44.75. Safcom closed marginally weak at KES12.00 while EABL ended the day at KES290. There was a decent cross in BCBL (local seller, foreign buyer).

Mauritius: Semdex +0.24%, USD 4.25m

An active day in Port Louis with decent activity witnessed across a number of names. In the Sem-7 we saw the bulk of the action in MCBG (+47bps, Rs212), NMH (unch, Rs87), Alteo (+29bps, Rs34.60) and Ciel (-58bps, Rs6.88) while outside of the Sem-7 there was decent activity in Lux Island Resorts (unch, Rs47).

Technical issues on the NSE meant the exchange was closed for most of the day.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.36%, USD 463k

Another very quiet day in Harare as nothing much happened. The most active name was Delta which close at 125c but nothing of any interest to report.
