The Gaborone market was closed for two days but it should really have been closed for three days as today was as good as closed.
EGtext
Foreign participation remains incredibly low and accounted for approximately 40% of the total turnover. Safcom was yet again the most active stock as it gained slightly to KES12.05. The banks were much quieter than normal with only really Equity Bank seeing any decent action (-55bps, KES45.50) while KNCB closed unchanged at KES53.50 on small volumes. EABL was also quiet (-34bps, KES294).
A chunky cross in SBM accounted for well over half the total turnover as the bank slid by 93bps to Rs1.06. Elsewhere in the Sem-7 we saw MCBG gain 48bps to Rs211 albeit on tiny volume while there were also marginal gains for NMH, Ciel and Terra.
Groundhog day in Lagos with nothing much going on and foreign participation being on the low side. Yet again local trading in Oando ($4.6m) and Transcor ($2.7m) were the main focal points. In normal trading the banks ended the day down 2bps although activity was light in the sector outside of Access (+1.01%, N10.00). The consumers fell by 10bps with NB seeing some decent volume (+11bps, N178.20).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The Zimbabwean market just cannot seem to get going in any meaningful way as the index fell slightly on a general lack of volumes. Econet was the bulk of activity today as the telco gained back up to 74c. Delta closed unchanged at 125.01c while Innscor closed at 74c.
