Movers & Shakers: May 04, 2017

Botswana: DCI +0.12%, USD 176k

Another uneventful day as foreign participants mostly absent.

Kenya: NSE 20 -1.31%, USD 7.3m

Safcom yet again highlighted the session in Nairobi. The telco inched marginally higher to KES19.65. There was also some crossing in the normally illiquid Diamond Trust Bank while most other names were rather quiet

Mauritius: Semdex +0.15%, USD 590k

Another quiet day in Mauritius. The most active names were none of the usual suspects

Nigeria: ASI +0.19%, USD 7.7m

Once again it was all about the banks with all the trading going on in the names. The general trend is foreign buying while locals heavily leaning towards the sell side. The sector rose by 31bps with the bulk of the volumes going through in GTB (-1.11%, N26.70) and Zenith Bank (+1.46%, N15.93). Consumers tagged along for the ride with the sector rising by 1.75% although there were no great shakes in terms of volumes in the sector.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.04%, USD 91k

A really pathetic day in Harare.
