Movers & Shakers: May 22, 2017

Botswana: DCI unch, USD 124k

Nothing to report from Gaborone.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.30%, USD 6.9m

An average start to the week in Nairobi with Safcom ($4.7m) the only name worth mentioning from an activity point of view as the telco closed +1.2% higher. Unfortunately with activity so geared towards Sacom, there is not much else to report.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.06%, USD 610k

A quiet start to the week with the index tip-toeing higher. The main trading took place in the normally illiquid Alteo (unch, Rs34.00) while SBMH (+10bps, Rs7.60) also witnessed some mild trading.

Nigeria: ASI -0.12%, USD 11.8m

A slower start to the week in Lagos with crosses in Seplat ($3.5m), GTB ($2.2m), Zenith ($1.6m) and NB ($1.3m) driving proceedings. Banking stocks closed the day slightly higher with the sector gaining +0.56% thanks to GTB (+1.59%). Consumers (-0.74%) closed in negative territory with NB (-2.17%) dragging the sector lower.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.78%, USD 1.5m

Another active day in Harare with aggressive locals pushing the index higher yet again. Econet rose to 26.03c albeit on small volumes while Delta is now at 93.52c. The main trader was RioZim which closed at 55c on big volumes.
