Nothing to report.
Some crossing by foreign investors went through late in the session thereby spicing up proceedings in Nairobi. Yet again it was the telco Safcom which led the way in terms of turnover as the stock rose by an impressive 3.8% to KES20.50. There was also some trading in KNCB (+80bps, KES33.25) while the rest of the market remains dull.
The banks yet again dominated the bourse although it was a generally muted session. MCBG ticked higher by 30bps to Rs230.00 while SBMH closed unchanged at Rs7.60.
The Nigerian bourse finally cracked through $10m ADV for the first time in what feels like forever. As usual though, general market activity remains painfully quiet and we saw 1 or 2 crosses go through which livened up the day. In the banks, we saw the sector increase by another 38bps with volumes dominated by GTB (+1.31%, N27.05) and Zenith Bank (+19bps, N16.21).The consumers (+1.98%) finally joined in the rally that we have seen in the banks recently and we also saw some volumes return to the sector. Today was the turn of Nestle (+2.01%, N760.00) and NB (+2.12%, N130.00). There was also a large local cross in Oando (+10.04%, N7.89).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Nothing exceptional to note from the ZSE as the bourse remains underwhelming.
