Some nice action today in Choppies (305t) and Letshego (240t) were the highlights on a nice day in Botswana.
Another painfully quiet session in Kenya with foreign participants virtually non-existent. The only action today took place yet again in Safcom with the telco rising by 30bps to KES19.95 with local buyers pushing the price higher.
Once again some nice trades in SBMH (unch, Rs0.70) headlined the trading session. MCBG profit takers pushed the stock down 1.4% to Rs219.00 while PBL reached a new all-time high of Rs422.00.
Today we saw action in Access (-88bps, N5.60) and Mobil (+54bps, N186.00) accounting for approximately half of the total turnover. In normal trading we witnessed another painfully quiet session with banks (-2.13%) on the back foot. All Tier 1 banking names closed in the red dragged most notably by GTB (-4.75%, N22.86) which was hit into the close. Consumers closed marginally positive although volumes were practically non-existent.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The aggressive local buying continues to push the index higher with another solid gain recorded today. Activity was evenly spread across a number of names. Large caps Delta and Econet closed at 68.25c and 25.2c respectively.
