Movers & Shakers: October 13, 2016


Botswana: DCI +0.14%, USD 2.6m

Some nice action today in Choppies (305t) and Letshego (240t) were the highlights on a nice day in Botswana.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.15%, USD 2.9m

Another painfully quiet session in Kenya with foreign participants virtually non-existent. The only action today took place yet again in Safcom with the telco rising by 30bps to KES19.95 with local buyers pushing the price higher.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.38%, USD 1.25m

Once again some nice trades in SBMH (unch, Rs0.70) headlined the trading session. MCBG profit takers pushed the stock down 1.4% to Rs219.00 while PBL reached a new all-time high of Rs422.00.

Nigeria: ASI -0.62%, USD 5.8m

Today we saw action in Access (-88bps, N5.60) and Mobil (+54bps, N186.00) accounting for approximately half of the total turnover. In normal trading we witnessed another painfully quiet session with banks (-2.13%) on the back foot. All Tier 1 banking names closed in the red dragged most notably by GTB (-4.75%, N22.86) which was hit into the close. Consumers closed marginally positive although volumes were practically non-existent.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +2.84%, USD 1.3m

The aggressive local buying continues to push the index higher with another solid gain recorded today. Activity was evenly spread across a number of names. Large caps Delta and Econet closed at 68.25c and 25.2c respectively.
