An interesting day in Botswana as we saw an unusual phenomenon whereby there were a number of smallish crosses across almost every name in the market. This meant that we saw a reasonable day of volumes in Gaborone.
A rather quiet day yet again in Kenya. In fact, the only real action took place in EqBnk (-60bps, KES39.75) and Safcom +1.2%, KES16.95). The rest of the market was dull.
Another muted day of trading in Mauritius. There was 1 cross in PBL (unch, Rs358.00) which accounted for a big chunk of the trading volumes. Outside of this the market was quiet with MCBG rising 20bps (Rs209.00) albeit on small volumes.
A couple of crosses lit up another generally lethargic day. Banks continue to strengthen as the sector rose by 1.35%. There was some heavy action yet again in GTB (+2.49%, N15.20) while the rest of the sector was rather quiet. Consumers rose by 24bps although the trading in this sector remains extremely low. Dangcem (+16bps, N160.25) saw a couple of crosses for a change.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Nothing to report from Zimbabwe.
