Some action in Letshego the only name worth mentioning as 417k shares traded while the rest of the market was quiet.
Another rather dull day to end the week in Nairobi as as foreigners were net buyers to the tune of $1.5m and accounted for 69.6% of activity. There were a few crosses in Safcom as foreign demand drove the telco +0.6% higher on 12.9m shares. The usually illiquid Diamond Trust Bank (+1.0%) also closed higher on foreign demand as 774k shares changed hands. The two major banking stocks were very quiet with KNCB closing unchanged while EQBNK fell -2.5%. EABL managed to close +1.1% higher on 188k shares.
A rather average day in Port Louis with turnover failing to break the $1m mark. MCBG drove activity as 55k shares traded in the counter while the likes of SBMH and NMH were rather quiet.
It was fun and games today in Lagos as the market opened 10 minutes before the normal closing time as a result of technical issues, and as such, trading was extended to 4pm Lagos time. Activity was almost non-existant as a result of the technical issues while the market closed the day lower with weakness in both banking stocks (-0.60%) and consumer stocks (-0.64%)
