Movers & Shakers: April 28, 2016


Botswana: DCI +0.01%, USD 981k

A decent day in Gaborine thans to some action in Letshego (2m shares) and FNBB (1.1m shares) while the rest of the market was quiet.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.13%, USD 4.7m

A very quiet day in Nairobi as foreigners dominated proceedings. Safcom was the most active name on the day as foreign demand drove the telco +0.9% higher on 9.9m shares. KNCB came under a bit of pressure with foreigners pushing the name -0.6% lower as 1.3m shares changed hands. Elsewhere, the rest of the big names were very quiet.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.33%, USD 960k

Some decent action in MCBG (+50bps, Rs209.00) was the main driver of the market today.

Nigeria: ASI +0.63%, USD 9.9m

A better day in Lagos, but activity continues to fail to break the $10m mark with some action in FBNH ($3.1m) and GTB ($1.1m) driving proceedings. Banking stocks continued to rallyl with the sector closing +0.68% higher thanks to GTB (+2.54%). Consumers (+1.56%) also closed higher thanks to a good performance in NB (+4.06%). WAPCO (-4.96%) came under some pressure after releasing Q1 2016 results.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.60%, USD 383k

The index crept higher although volumes still remain woeful. There was mild interest in the normally illiquid Old Mutual (220.25c) and Seedco (56c).
