A much better day in Gaborone as turnover increased to $2.1m thanks to crosses in Letshego as 8.31m shares traded in the name while the rest of the market was very quiet.
A very active day to start the week in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $12.1m with foreigners accounting for 65.1% of activity. EABL (-1.9%) was the star of the show as 2.06m shares changed hands in the brewer with foreigners dominating both sides of the name. EQBNK closed the day unchanged on 1.67m shares while there was some profit taking in KNCB (-0.8%) as 874k shares changed hands. Foreign selling drove Safcom -0.9% lower as 5.2m shares traded in the telco.
Turnover was mainly buoyed by trades in MCBG, SBM and Rockcastle which accounted 71.2% of the total value traded. MCBG traded a total of 27k shares to close down at Rs205.00 (+0.2%), SBM traded 3.1m shares gaining 1.0% to close at Rs1.01 and Rockcastle, the top performer of the session, closed up by 2.9% (Rs2.45) after exchanging 205k shares.
A very slow start to the week in Lagos as turnover amounted to $14.8m with some crosses in the likes of NB ($2.97m), GTB ($1.79m), Zenith ($1.79m) and FBNH ($1.74m) driving proceedings. Banks continued to rally with the sector gaining +1.77% thanks to GTB (+2.94%), FBNH (+2.60%) and UBA (+1.73%). Consumers (+0.68%) were also stronger thanks to Dangote Sugar (+4.02%), IntBrew (+2.83%) and NB (+2.14%).

The top movers of todays session were Econet and CBZ, as the two stocks accounted 64% of total market turnover. Econet traded 1.4m shares to close unchanged at 51.5c while CBZ traded 983k shares closing flat at 10c. Zimplow, which saw a structured deal of 5.6m shares closed the day off at 8.51c.
