A total of 437k shares in FNBB were exchanged today, resulting in the counter closing flat at 380t. Other market leaders included: Letshego (239t) and Sefalana (1020t) each trading 453k and 2k shares respectively.
Activity continues to impress in Nairobi even with a slowdown today as total value traded amounted to $15m with activity evenly split between locals and foreigners. EQBNK (-2.8%) came under pressure on the back of foreign selling as 6.8m shares changed hands. Continued foreign activity in EABL drove proceedings in the brewer as 1.15m shares traded. KNCB closed the day unchanged as locals dominated proceedings with 4.28m shares traded. Rather slow going in Safcom today as the telco gained +1.6% on 3.83m shares.
A big day for SBM as the counter contributed 59.5% of total market turnover. SBM closed 1.0% down at Rs1.00 on the back of 35.7m shares traded. MCBG remained flat as the counter traded thin volumes throughout the session, closing at Rs203.00 on a total of 8.3k shares traded.
Things slowed down again today as turnover amounted to a dull $20.7m with some activity in FBNH ($8.83m), NB ($3.93m) and Zenith ($2.05m). Banks continued to come under pressure today with the sector falling -1.36% thanks to GTB (-4.22%) and FBNH (-3.03%). Consumers (-1.48%) were also weaker as Dangote Flour (-4.88%) and NB (-3.33%) dragged the sector lower.

A significant improvement in turnover was seen today, after 41.9m shares were traded in DAWN. A special bargain trade was executed in the name at 47% above the last traded price (1c). Despite large volumes going through in the name the counter closed flat at 1c. BAT also made a significant contribution ($327k) closing at 1,170c on the back of 27.9k shares traded.
