Nothing to report from Gaborone as activity remains subdued.
Things slowed down in Nairobi as locals continue to dominate proceedings with turnover amounting to $6.4m. EQBNK managed to gain +0.96% on local demand as 4.04m shares changed hands after releasing FY 2014 results yesterday. Foreigners dominated both sides of Kenya Power as 3.13m shares traded. KNCB (+1.7%) and Safaricom (+0.6%) experienced strong demand after launching a joint product. Despite touching a high of KES 16.00, Safaricoms gain was tapered by the regulators initiative seeking more powers to address dominance concerns.
Foreigners contributed 22% of total market turnover, which stood at $2.4m today. Despite the increase in activity, the main banking stocks continued to lose steam as MCBG registered a closing price of Rs199.00(-1%) after 47.2K shares were exchanged in the name, while SBM closed at Rs0.99(-1%) with 5.1m shares changing hands. Total tourist arrivals were up by 11.1% in January.
Not much on the go in Lagos today with trading dominated by a crosses in a few names as turnover amounted to $19.3m. There was some activity in the likes of GTB ($5.41m), Zenith ($3.32m), NB ($1.64m) and FBNH ($1.21m). Banks came under some pressure with the sector falling -2.90% thanks to weakness in GTB (-4.98%), Zenith (-4.97%) and FBNH (-4.38%). Consumers (-2.18%) were also very weak with IntBrew (-4.96%) and NB (-4.79%) dragging the sector lower.

The Index was pulled down by the likes of Hippo (-1.02%), Innscor (-1.72%) and Ok Zim (-5.71%). The counters only traded 29k, 30k and 186k shares respectively. Total turnover amounted to a paltry $103k as foreigners remain all but absent.
