A very impressive day in Gaborone as turnover increased to $9.3m thanks to crosses in Choppies ($6.1m) and Letshego ($2.1m).
Things livened up in Nairobi today as turnover amounted to $10.4m with foreigners dominating proceedings. EQBNK closed the day unchanged as foreigners dominated both sides of the name with 4.69m shares traded. EABL managed to gain +3.0% with foreigners dominating purchases as 622k shares traded. Safcom (-0.3%) closed the day lower on the back of local selling. Activity increased in KNCB today thanks to an increase in foreign demand as 1.16m shares traded.
Downward momentum continues in the market, with indices closing in the red for the 9th consecutive day. MCBG lost 0.3% to close at Rs197.00 after trading a total of 32k shares, whilst SBM closed the day firm at Rs0.98 on 536k shares.
A better day in Lagos but still nothing to write home about as turnover amounted to $16.5m with some activity in Diamond Bank ($4.21m), NB ($2.27m), FBNH ($1.63m) and GTB ($1.59m). Banks came under pressure once again with the sector falling -3.88% as GTB (-7.54%) was marked down for a dividend. There were also significant losses in UBA (-4.83%), Zenith (-4.47%) and FBNH (-4.29%), while Access bucked the trend and gained +10.03%. Consumers (-0.10%) closed slightly lower with weakness in Dangote Flour (-4.82%) and IntBrew (-3.09%).

A slight improvement in turnover was seen today although activity was muted. The index closed down by 1bps due to losses in the likes of Innscor (-3.51%,55c) and Natfoods(-1.56%,315c).
