Botswana: DCI +0.06%, USD 1.39m

Another decent day in Gaborone with some activity in the more illiquid names such as Turnstar (201t) and Stanchart (1200t). There was also a bit of action in Letshego (273t).

Egypt: EGX 30 -1.43%, USD 83m

A volatile trading session in the Egyptian market as the index failed to find ground following a green open. The EGX30 fell 1.43% to close at 9587 points on lower than average volumes of EGP598 million. Foreign institutions pressured the index ending as net sellers worth EGP119 million, targeting mainly blue chips. COMI fell 2.76% with 1.9 million shares changing hands. HRHO plunged 4.02%, ESRS 4.00%, and TMGH 4.80%. Institutional participation accounted for 45% of total trading.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.23%, USD 25.2m

it was an absolute mammoth day in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $25.2m. A massive local to local cross in KNCB got things going as a total of 20.72m shares traded in the name with the counter closing +0.9% higher. There was a large foreign to foreign cross in the usually illiquid Diamond Trust Bank as 2.31m shares traded. Elsewhere there was some action in EQBNK as 1.99m shares traded while Safcom was very quiet with 2.54m shares changing hands in the telco.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.31%, USD 1.48m

The Semdex rose slightly while the Sem-10 lost 15bps. The losers in the Sem-10 were MCBG (-12bps, Rs213.25), SBM (-93bps, Rs1.06) and ENL Land (-99bps, Rs50.00). These were partially offset by gains in Alteo, Ciel and IBL.

Nigeria: ASI -0.26%, USD 34.9m

It was a very solid day from an activity point of view after the long weekend with turnover amounting to an impressive $34.9m. Activity in the likes of GTB ($9.17m), Nestle ($5.87m), Zenith ($4.05m), NB ($3.98m) and Access ($1.90m) boosted turnover. Banks closed slightly higher with the Index gaining +0.04% as GTB managed to gain +1.63%. Consumers (+0.05%) also close slightly higher thanks mostly to NB (+1.21%).

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.25%, USD 2.99m

An active day in Harare with a number of buyers in Econet pushing the price to 79.21c on good volumes. Delta also saw good trading and closed at 125c. There was also some mild action in DZLH (10c).
