Botswana: DCI +0.13%, USD 1.36m

Another decent day from an activity point of view with names like Letshego (275t) and Choppies (420t) seeing some decent two-way. There was also some mild activity in BIHL (1137t).

Egypt: EGX 30 -0.37%, USD 75m

The Egyptian market continued its profit-booking sentiment led by international institutions, leaving the EGX30 down 0.37% to end the day at 9552 points on low volumes of EGP535 million. COMI led the market in terms of volumes as the name lost 1.27% on twice its average volume (1.9 million shares). JUFO fell 1.31% taking the second spot in terms of turnover to last print at EGP9.77/share. Foreign participation accounted for 30% of the market, ending the day as net sellers worth EGP36 million.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.29%, USD 11.2m

It was another decent day in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $11.2m as foreigners accounted for 73% of activity. Diamond Trust Bank was once again very active thanks to foreign participation in the name as 2.06m shares traded. It was another active day in KNCB with foreigners involved as 1.51m shares traded. There was a bit more activity in Safcom today as 6.91m shares traded in the telco while foreign selling (95%) drove EQBNK -1.5% lower.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.25%, USD 3.36m

An active day in Port Louis. The bulk of the action took place in the two large banks, MCBG (-35bps, Rs212.50) and SBM (unch, Rs1.06). Elsewhere in the Sem-10 the only stocks to change price were Gamma Civic (+62bps, Rs48.80), IBL (-22bps, Rs115.75) and BBCL (-30bps, Rs6.72).

Nigeria: ASI -1.03%, USD 24.3m

Things slowed down today with turnover amounting to a rather average $24.3m. The tier-1 banks dominated proceedings with some action in the likes of Zenith ($5.4m), GTB ($2.91m), ETI ($2.61m) and Transcorp ($2.12m). There was also an off-market cross in Transcorp of 400m shares at N5.20. Banks fell under the sword with the Index shedding -1.39% as Zenith (-2.61%) and GTB (-1.64%) dragged the sector lower. Consumers (+0.35%) managed to close higher with good performaces in IntBrew (+1.84%) and NB (+0.73%).

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.19%, USD 450k

A dull day in Harare. There was no real action to write home about with the bulk of the activity taking place in Econet (79.21c) and Padenga (7.51c).
