Botswana: DSE -0.01%, USD 62k

Nothing on the go in Gaborone as turnover amounted to a dull USD 62k.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.23%, USD 11.7m

Activity was much more than normal in Nairobi today while foreign participation was also much higher, mostly thanks to a large foreign cross in BATK (+5.3%, KES 1047.00). In normal trading we saw the banks taking the lions share of the action Equity Bank closed down 50bps at KES 50.75 while KNCB ended the day unchanged at KES 54.50. There was also some life in EABL as the brewer gained 40bps to KES 276. Safcom was quieter than normal yet still closed the day unchanged at KES 12.15.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.05%, USD 5.88m

An extremely active day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to a very impressive USD 5.88m thanks largely to the usually illiquid ASL as 843k shares traded in the name. There was also some decent activity in the likes of SBMH (21.35m shares), NMH (247k shares) and MCBG (94k shares).

Nigeria: ASI -0.44%, USD 23.6m

Another slow day in Lagos with a couple of crosses again the main focal point. The biggest trade was in fact a chunky $3.4m cross in the very illiquid Mansard Insurance. In normal trading the banks fell by 1.25% with Zenith (-4.55%, N21.00) the biggest loser. Most of the activity was in ETI (+1.89%, N18.90) and FBNH (-1.27%, N11.70). Consumers fell marginally by 20bps with NB (+1.84%, N166.00), 7UP (-8.23%, N173.00) and Nestle (unch, N980.00) the most active names in the sector. Oando saw some life yet closed down 2.98% at N22.80.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -1.58%, USD 125k

An absolute dire day in Harare with tunover amounting to a paltry USD 125k with nothing to report.
