Another quiet day in Gaborone with nothing notable to comment on.
The Nairobi bourse reversed all of yesterdays losses thanks to strong foreign buying in the large caps. Accounting for almost half the total volumes today the most active stock was KNCB (+80bps, KES59.50). Safcom (+2.5%, KES14.55), Equity Bank (unch, KES50.00) and EABL (unch, KES314) were all pretty active as well. There was a foreign-foreign cross in KPLL (unch, KES15.30).
A rather slow day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $1.0m with some action in the likes of NMH (125k shares), SBMH (4.49m shares) and Ciel (571k shares).
Some weakness in the banks into the close. Banks (-1.52%) lost ground mostly thanks to GTB (-3.75%, N23.12) and Access (-3.38%, N7.15). Activity was heavily focused in FBNH, GTB and Zenith. The consumers ended the day marginally in the green with activity almost entirely centered in Nestle (+24bps, N800.00) and NB (+18bps, N170.50). In the cements we saw a couple of crosses in Dangcem (unch, N170.00) and Wapco (-62bps, N77.52). As always Oando saw some predominantly local trading (-3.00%, N19.40).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A very active day in Harare as turnover amounted to $3.25m with some crosses in Delta ($2.06m) and Econet ($987k) driving proceedings while the market closed the day lower with the Industrial Index falling -1.5%.
