A much better day in Gaborone as tunover increased to $1.39m with some action in Turnstar (3.51m shares) and Stanchart (371k shares).
A solid enough day from an activity point of view in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $9.0m as foreign participation fell to 46.9%. Safcom was once again the most active name with 22.23m shares changing hands in the telco as foreigners continue to dominate purchases. There was some foreign profit taking in EQBNK as the name fell -1.0% on 1.97m shares. There was a large local cross in the usually illiquid NIC Bank as 1.36m shares traded. There was also a small bit of profit taking in EABL as the brewer fell -0.9%.
A solid day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $1.75m as MCBG accounted for 35% of activity with the name falling -0.5% on the back of foreign selling. SBM closed unchaged while NMH also closed lower and fell -0.9%.
It was a much better day in Lagos from an activity point of view with turnover amounting to $41.3m thanks to some large crosses in GTB ($12.09m), NB ($11.07m), Nestle ($1.81m) and Oando ($1.76m). Banks came under pressure as the Index fell -1.15% with UBA (-4.85%) and Access (-1.85%) dragging the sector lower. Consumers (+0.42%) closed in positive territory thanks to PZ Cussons (+10.14%) and Nestle (+2.25%).
